چکیده
Background and aims As our understanding of platelet activation in response to infections and/or inflammatory conditions is growing, it becoming clearer that safe, yet efficacious, platelet-targeted phytochemicals could improve public health beyond the field cardiovascular diseases. The phytonutrient sulforaphane shows promise for clinical use due its effect on pathways, favorable pharmacokinetic profile, high bioavailability. potential functionality impaired metabolic processes has however hardly been studied humans. This study investigated effects broccoli sprout consumption, as a source sulforaphane, urinary 11-dehydro-thromboxane B 2 (TXB ), stable thromboxane metabolite used monitor eicosanoid biosynthesis antithrombotic therapy, healthy participants exposed caloric overload. Methods In this double-blind, placebo-controlled, crossover trial 12 were administered 16g sprouts, or pea sprouts (placebo) followed by standardized high-caloric drink PhenFlex given challenge homeostasis. Urine samples collected during visits analyzed 11-dehydro-TXB , metabolites. Genotyping was performed using Illumina GSA v3.0 DTCBooster. Results Administration before load reduced levels 50% ( p = 0.018). amount excreted urine correlated negatively with r s −0.377, 0.025). Participants carrying polymorphic variant NAD(P)H dehydrogenase quinone 1 (NQO1*2) showed decreased excretion 0.035). Conclusion Sulforaphane shown be effective targeting responsiveness after single intake. Our results indicate an inverse causal relationship between which unaffected concomitant intake challenge. 11-Dehydro-TXB non-invasive, sensitive, suitable biomarker investigate phytonutrients aggregation within hours. متن کاملThe effect of methylphenidate on neurofibromatosis type 1: a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled, crossover trial
BACKGROUND Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) is an autosomal dominant disorder with an estimated prevalence of about 1/3000, independent of ethnicity, race, or gender. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity like Disorder (ADHD)-like characteristics are often reported in patients with NF1. We hypothesised that learning disabilities in NF1 children were related to ADHD symptoms. Treatment with methylphenid...
